Top tips for selling in Spring

Spring is historically the most popular season to sell in, with warmer weather and vibrant gardens enhancing a home’s appeal and drawing interest from buyers.

However, just like the weather, competition also heats up, so it’s important for vendors to put their best foot forward.

Spring clean

Befittingly, giving your home a full spring clean is an important step to ensure its presented in the best possible light.

Declutter, deep clean the carpet, dust all crevices and scrub walls and floors.

First impressions

First impressions can make all the difference to buyer interest, so improving the property’s curb appeal is one of the most important things you can do.

Enhance the property’s facade by tidying up the front yard, mowing the lawn, picking out weeds and tidying up the garden beds.

Some cost-effective, simple tricks which can boost your home’s visual appeal include a fresh coat of paint on the front door or walls, placing some statement pot plants near your entrance or staging it with outdoor furniture.

Plant new flowers

Along with tidying up the garden, planting new flowers can help add a touch of colour to your yard.

There are many varieties of cheap and cheerful plants which can brighten up the garden to make it look full and bright.

Choose vibrant flowers that blossom in Spring, such as geraniums, daffodils, pansies, carnations and marigolds.

Invite the light

Capitalise on the season’s sunnier days by bringing more natural light into your property. This will allow your home to look brighter, inviting and more modern.

A good place to start is to remove all curtains and swap them for venetian blinds or shutters. If preferred, you can also draw back the curtains, so they are not covering the windows.

Consider using a soft pastel palette or hints of colour to help give your room a cheerful springtime feel.

Accentuate outdoor entertaining

As the weather warms up, it is a good idea to accentuate your outdoor entertaining area to buyers.

Clean your outdoor furnishings or stage your home with new ones.

Bring your outdoor umbrellas back to life by cleaning off any dust and washing them in warm soapy water.

Clean the barbecue and wipe down any outdoor furniture, tables and chairs to make them look like new.

It’s also a good idea to revamp your accessories. You can do this very cost-effectively and is often as simple as changing out older pillows for newer pillows and buying a new throw rug.
